It happened around 10:30 a.m. on the southbound side when an Audi lost control, ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and then re-entered the highway near milepost 39.9, New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair said.
The car collided with a Ford SUV which then struck a Chevy SUV on impact, the trooper said. No injuries were reported. The accident remains under investigation and there is no additional information available.
Traffic cameras showed an ambulance and emergency response vehicles at the scene.
The right two lanes and shoulder were closed near Exit 40.
